How do we use the resources from the Earth?Hi! My name is Fergus the Flying Fox. I live in Brisbane and fly around a lot. My favourite place to stay is a beautiful old Moreton Bay Fig Tree in Murna Street at Jindalee. Perhaps you might have seen this tree.
I know how much this tree means to me, but sometimes I worry about what might happen if this tree was no longer around to offer me shelter and food. Maybe if people understood how important the tree is, they would be sure to save it for me and my friends. |
People use all kinds of resources from the Earth but sometimes they don't really understand where things come from and so they don't know why we need to protect them. This is why I need your help.
I need you to research the many resources that the Earth provides and to discover how these precious resources are used in many ways. Then I need you to share what you have learnt with others so that we can help to make sure that my special place is protected.

Renewable or Non-Renewable?
Some resources are renewable. This means they naturally are made again and again. If we use these resources responsibly, we should never run out.
Some resources are non-renewable. This means that they can't be made again, or they take millions of years to be made. If we keep using these resources, one day they will be all used up.
